Yesterday I ran across Macara and Mosh Pits blog post about her recent cream highlighter purchase and review. Her post reminded me of myself when it comes to highlighting and contouring. If you’ve been following my blog for a while, you know that I struggle with highlight and contour. I’m going to give my thoughts and review on NYX Bright Idea Cream Highlighter.
I have been searching forever for highlighter and contour, I still haven’t found a contour but I’m thinking of purchasing this one. I’m still hesitant on it though. I found this highlight at my local target for about $8.
Before I bought it, I asked for opinions on Influenster and received a few, stating it’s a good start and that I should pick it up. Well, I did. I tried it on my wrist as soon as I got home to see how I thought it would look on me and I loved it.
It wasn’t over the top but still visible with the right light, which is what I look for. Upon trying it on my face, however, I could barely see it! It seemed to have completely blended into either my makeup or my skin tone because I truly looked for the highlight and it was no where to be found.
As you can see, there’s nothing there. I’m really disappointed with this but I’m trying not to completely discard it, it’s paid for already and I’m still very much a beginner at this so maybe it was my doing that gave me these results?
I’m definitely going to read more how-to blogs for finding and applying highlight (and contour).
Would I buy this again? As of now, absolutely not.
Am I still going to use it? You bet your bottom dollar I am. I’m not a fan of wasting money (unless I get some type of breakout or health problem, of course).
Do I recommend this? Ehhh. If you’re just starting out and want to try it, go for it. Just be cautious of this and really do your research to find a shade that actually shows up on you.
